Ranzenkopf Wind Park, Hunsrück mountain range, Rhineland-Palatinate

We joined this wind park – Germany’s largest wind park to be planned at municipal level – as the “owner’s engineer” after the local municipality, acting in its role as principal, had awarded the general contractor contract. The plans had to be amended multiple times at short notice due to local issues, and an substation was required at the site.

The construction conditions in the low mountain range during winter provided plenty of challenges: As a result of cranes freezing and downtime caused by the wind, we fell some eight weeks behind schedule. To catch up on this lost time, we pulled out all the stops and needed to use considerable negotiating skill. Together with the general contractor and all other subcontractors carrying out the work, we were able to increase capacities at short notice (teams and crane technology) without added costs, thereby enabling all 10 wind turbines to be completed and put into operation on schedule. A big thank you for this!
